Con Edison customers with online accounts can provide us with access to their meter and billing data by providing us with their 11-digit Con Edison account numbers. We then enter your account number into ConEd’s third-party data access system and you will receive an email from ConEd to authorize us to access your data, which we use to analyze your usage and costs. We do not use your account number for any other purpose and will never share it with anyone. If you are concerned about being fraudulently enrolled by third-party energy-supply companies (“ESCO”s), you can contact ConEd to prevent third-party suppliers from being able to enroll you by requesting that an “ESCO Block” be placed on your account.

We review your previous usage history to determine if you would benefit significantly by switching to one of the different electric rate plans that Con Edison offers. If we determine that you are already on the rate plan that is best-suited for your usage characteristics, then we will not charge you anything. If we determine that would significantly benefit by switching to a different plan, then we charge a one-time fee and help you work with Con Edison to get enrolled on that rate plan. The amount of the fee is determined by multiplying your total kWh usage over the past 12 months by 3 cents per kWh. For example, if you used an average of 1,500 per kWh per month over the past 12 months, the fee would be $540 (1,500 x 12 x $0.03).

If we determine that switching to a different rate plan would be beneficial, we have you electronically sign a Letter of Authorization giving us permission to act on your behalf to request that Con Edison enroll you on your new rate plan. We handle this for no additional charge and ensure that the requested changes are properly processed.
